The Fourth of July is a wonderful time in which we enjoy family and friends while taking a long weekend to relax and celebrate. There are many traditions we all love, like wearing red, white, and blue, but most notable are the fireworks. It seems that every town in America has some sort of parade and fireworks. It is also the tradition for the news to run a lead story about somewhere where the fireworks display went horribly wrong. These reports also seem to bring up every other fireworks mishap they can find from the past. It was in watching one of these reports that I was reminded of life in the mailroom.
I am not talking about actual fireworks or explosives in your mailroom, although that is certainly a scary thought. I am talking about the “fireworks” that ensue when something goes wrong. Just like the news folks, the current problem becomes front and center, but what is worse is that any problem that has ever happened in the past seems to come up as well. We may be able to fix today’s problem, but we have no way to go back in time to fix an old problem. It is a frustrating mess indeed.
While we cannot go back in time, we can look forward to prevention in the future with mailroom package tracking software. In our world, the real “Fireworks” begin when a package is lost or damaged. While it may be tough for the package recipients to grasp this, we also know that those items may have arrived damaged or not arrived at all despite what the carrier’s package tracking system may say. This is why it is so important to have an accurate package logging software in your mailroom.
Mailroom package tracking software will help you log packages 4 -10 times faster than by hand, saving you time and money. In my opinion though, one of the best parts of a package tracking system is its ability to back you and your team up when you are blamed for a carrier error, preventing a whole lot of fireworks in your mailroom!
