I have heard it said that pricing is more art than science. From the consumer’s point of view, this may sound surprising, but everyone from “mom-and-pop” storeowners to Harvard business school graduates struggles when it comes to pricing a new product. I can certainly tell you that even after 17 years in retail I am just as challenged. There is no such thing as a “perfect” price. In fact, it’s quite a challenge to come up with fair, logical, good prices. After some deliberation and a lot of head scratching, I realized that some of the pricing we have created for EZTrackIt’s package tracking software was so far from perfect that it needed changing.
I know what you’re thinking. Normally when someone says something like “we need to make adjustments to our pricing model” it means that they are going to raise their prices. However, in this case, that’s not at all the conclusion we reached. After talking with literally hundreds of people in the residential housing market we realize that our package logging system pricing misses the mark. We have made adjustments to this pricing model that we think many building owners, property managers, and board members will be very happy with.
I am happy to announce that as of today the base price of our package tracking software for residential buildings has dropped from $95 to $75 per month. While this may only seem like a $20 per month decrease, it is much more significant because the number of housing units in the base price has increased from 50 to 200. For instance, this means that a 200 unit building that would have paid $245 per month for our package logging system must now only pay $75 per month. That’s a pretty big drop. These price decreases affect larger buildings in equally dramatic ways. We have also decreased the price of our “Package Monitor” feature by 50%. This reduces the price of that feature from $50 per month to $25 per month. This should be welcome news for anyone who would like to notify their package recipients that they have a package in a more visual way.The Package Monitor feature is especially useful in places where residents are less likely to use text messaging or email, such as assisted-living communities.
Pricing is hard but EZTrackIt’s package logging system pricing doesn’t have to be. Our goal is to free minds from tedious tasks. The way we help our clients achieve that goal though is to make sure that our products easily pay for itself. That is what this new pricing model is about.
