Covid-19 has knocked us all for a loop. We are all still trying to figure out how to deal with life in the “new normal” and if things are getting better or worse. I wish I knew what the future will hold but I think we all know that avoiding contact will be key for the foreseeable future. To that end, EZTrackIt has released our “Contactless Package Checkout”.
What is “Contactless Package Checkout?”
Contactless Checkout is a new package checkout process that allows the recipient to claim their packages through their phone and allow you to get a “pick list” of all of their packages awaiting pickup without having to make contact. This can even be done through a closed window.
How does it work?
We now have a special link that you can add to your package emails and texts. When the recipient gets their notification, they will go to pick up their packages. Upon arrival the recipient will click the link and a QR code will display on their screen. They will then hold up the code to the plexiglass or other clear barrier at the pickup location. The worker on the other side will use their own personal phone camera to read the QR code. This will give the worker a “pick list” of all of the recipient’s packages that are available. The worker can get the packages and mark them as “checked out via QR code ID” on the screen. The packages can then be placed in the socially distanced pick up location.
What equipment do I need?
This feature will work with both the recipient and the worker using their own smart phones. There is no other equipment required.
Why do my staff need to use their own phones?
This process is designed to be done easily with social distancing of both recipients and staff members. While workers could share a device, it negates the safe practice of social distancing on their part.
What if a recipient does not have or forgets their smartphone?
The recipient could print up their code and reuse the printout each time they pickup packages. Or they can simply tell the worker their name and the worker can use the regular checkout process.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for this feature during the pandemic.
