Is your University Mail Center on the list of the most haunted colleges?

1. Ohio University

Reportedly one of the most haunted places on the planet, Ohio University’s campus boasts a university mail center located in the old Athens Asylum for the Insane, built in 1874 – a building featured on The Scariest Places on Earth. The campuses other buildings are also rife with ghostly activity, like Washington Hall, which is haunted by an entire girl’s basketball team. Considering the campus was built in the 1860’s, it’s no surprise that several other historic buildings have garnered their own ghosts as well over the years.

2. Gettysburg College

Located near the famous battlefield, Pennsylvania Hall of Gettysburg College was used as a hospital during and after the battle. The basement is said to be haunted by bloody surgeons, and a Lone Sentinel stands watch on the top of the building. Stevens Hall has a dorm wardrobe-pillaging female haunt, and the frozen form of the Blue Boy may also be seen on cold winter nights. While the university mail center is in a brand new building, it’s also on a very old battleground. So who knows what spirits lurk within?

3. Wells College

Wells College in New York is filled with angry spirits, two of whom wield knives. We’re betting those aren’t mail center boxcutters either, so enter Zabriskie Hall and Glen Park Mansion residents halls at your own risk. The other ghosts tales come from the 1918 flu epidemic, resulting in ghostly nurses and moaning spirits.

4. Huntington College

Huntington College in Alabama has the most colorful ghosts, including the Red Lady, and the Ghost of the Green – both suicide victims. But everyone’s favorite ghost is the girl running around the halls in only a towel.

5. California State University Channel Islands

California’s newest public university is another re-purposed insane asylum – the Camarillo State Mental Hospital, built in 1936. The good news: Violent criminals usually went to Atascadero State Hospital. The bad news: students still say it’s haunted, reporting cold spots, missing or moving objects, strange knocking, and occasional apparitions. The hospital is also rumored to be the inspiration for the Eagles’ spooky hit, “Hotel California.”

Is your university mail center haunted? Hey, at least if a package goes missing you can blame the ghosts!
