Walking the Walk with Package Tracking SoftwareIt takes a fair amount of time, patience and effort to feel like you are good at what you do. Once you reach that point it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you really do know all that you need to know. Take me for example. I have more than 17 years of hands on experience dealing with package receiving in my own business, not to mention the last five years of helping all kinds of other organizations with their package issues by providing package tracking software. I would love to think that I know it all and that there is nothing more to learn. Why, I could be a pinnacle of knowledge for people to come to, right? Well, maybe for a moment, but it wouldn’t last. By determining that I “knew it all” whatever knowledge and experience I had would soon go out of date. After all, why learn new things if you know it all already. Closing oneself off from new information is tantamount to self delusion. That may seem obvious, but you don’t have to look very far to see boundless examples of this point.

Folks in the package logging software business can be particularly prone to this kind of hubris due to the physical and environmental distance between the realm of package tracking software and the everyday world. This is one of the reasons we at EZTrackIt strive so hard to keep in touch with our clients and their daily experiences. This week, for instance, I am travelling up and down Florida visiting Hotel clients. Every industry has its own unique challenges and spending a day or so with a client helps us to find out what we don’t know. Today I learned exactly how one of our clients uses our package logging software. This was a two-way flow of information, too. I showed them how to use our package tracking software much more efficiently without adding any new features or needing new hardware. Then they showed me a new use for our Package Monitor feature that never occurred to me.

It is easy to say that you know what you are doing and very hard to admit that you are missing some key information. At EZTrackIt we work hard to impress upon our team that we don’t know it all. It is only by really taking the time and listening to our clients that we can even begin to understand what their experiences and needs are, so we make it a point to devote time and attention to this task.
