Start Preparing for the Holiday Season Early With Package Tracking SoftwareThe kids just went back to school and the crisp autumn breeze has yet to roll in to replace warm summer days, but we’re already thinking about the winter holidays… and so should you! It seems that each year we start planning for the holidays earlier and earlier. Christmas and Hanukkah decorations invade the stores before we celebrate Halloween, we start drinking Pumpkin Lattes in August (not that there’s anything wrong with that). And, if we’re smart, we start doing our shopping before Black Friday to avoid holiday shopping crowds. So too should you get in the holiday spirit in your mailroom, or at least start preparing for the piles of packages that will come your way in December.

In December our package tracking system clients see one of the biggest spikes of package deliveries that they will receive all year, and this spike spans several weeks, from early bird gift senders to the procrastinated last minute deliveries. If you don’t start preparing now, you may just find yourself buried under them! Follow our step to step guide, starting this September, readying your mailroom for the holiday package rush.

  • Test Internal Package Tracking Software: If you are still hand logging packages, now is the time to do your research on internal package tracking software. Look up companies that provide package tracking software, make note of their pricing and see if any proprietary hardware is required – it never is with EZTrackIt. Once you’ve selected a company, schedule a demo. We are always more than happy to provide demos of our package tracking software to interested organizations to show them its capabilities and how it can make their package logging process EZ!
  • Implement a Package Tracking System: If your demo runs smoothly it’s time to put a package tracking system in place. This is going to be a big transition, even if you’re using your current hardware, so we advise doing so well before December.
  • Train Your Staff: Once the system is implemented, you should train your staff on the ins and out of our internal package tracking software. Doing so at the end of September or beginning of October gives them the chance to practice logging packages, tracking them with our waypoints system, and collecting digital signatures while your package receiving is slow and steady so they will be pros by the time the holidays roll around!
  • Inform Your Package Recipients: Finally, you will want to let your package recipients know that you have invested in a new system that will allow you to get their packages to them faster. Also inform them that with your new internal package tracking software they can receive instantaneous notifications when their packages arrive via text message, email or even Facebook alert! Knowing when they can pick up their packages is certainly a plus that they’ll appreciate!
