My wife Suzannah and I opened our package tracking software company’s doors for business on January 2, 2008. For an Internet company, that is a very long time ago. We started out very small, and grew quickly. Within six months we had already found entire new market segments for our package tracking system that never even occurred to us before. Growth is good, but it’s not always easy. I was one of the shortest boys in the ninth grade, but by the tenth grade I was one of the tallest. I grew eight and a half inches in six months. I found out that the term “growing pains” actually describes real circumstances. That pain was very real, but thankfully it was also short-lived. Similarly, shortly after EZTrackIt’s package tracking system logged its one millionth package, we started to feel growing pains too. We had to get completely new servers not once, but twice in just eighteen months. It took us three years to log our first million packages, but only nine months to log the second million. Our cloud-based package tracking software now logs close to 2 million packages per year to over a quarter million package recipients in five countries.
